Personality & Traits

General Overview David has a brooding, quiet disposition. Intense, and extremely intelligent, David says little and keeps his head down. Underneath his calm nature is an unusual strength. Most would describe David like the department he chose, mysterious.

Many have no idea why he is in Starfleet because of his indifference of others. He does not go out of his way to be rude and has impeccable manners, referring to everyone as sir or ma'am at all times. Yet he is not nice either, and does not engage in social pleasantries, sometimes outright ignoring them.

He has been described as a toned-down vulcan in the past. He is extremely talented at computer technology.

David has few (if any) friends. Almost nothing is known about him by the general crew populace, and he prefers it that way. David can be found in the lab after hours working or studying. As quarter-halanan he does possess psychokinetic ability, but the extent is not known.
Strengths & Weaknesses Calculating, adept, and adaptive. Protective, and capable. Quiet, brooding, shy. Can be quite jealous. Subtle. Dour. Courageous, honorable. Sarcastic, abrupt, dry. Judgmental. Eerie. Strange. Enigmatic. Undetermined psychokinetic ability. Secretive. Respectful, but reserved. If David has a soft side, it isn't known. Efficient and professional.
Ambitions Someday he would like to go to OCS and become an officer. He is taking Starfleet Medical and Starfleet Engineering extension courses and can always be found with his head in a book or two. David's ambitions are a closely guarded secret, but he mostly wants to prove his own worth and have the respect of his colleagues.
Hobbies & Interests Most of David's off-duty activities are solitary. Reading, writing poetry, studying, and running simulations in the holodeck are a few. He people-watches from afar. Observational and passive, with an obvious love of learning, David's interests are another secret. He appears not to want to present himself as enjoying anything. It is obvious he likes his occupational specialty, encryption analysis and computer programming, and he is very fluent in technology. David volunteers the rest of his free time to sickbay or the general intelligences lab.

Personal History David Carpenter was born in New Jersey, North America.

His mother died in childbirth and he was raised solely by his father. Not much is known of his personal history, which is marked by spotty school attendance records and hospital visits before dropping off at age ten to complete homeschooling. After this he reappeared on paper at Highman Recruiting Center after he annihilated the bar for the Starfleet recruiting exam at fifteen.

It was then it was discovered he had lied about his address and was living in an abandoned apartment building to attend the recruiting booster courses and receive highschool packet. Around this time it was noted that Mark Carpenter was admitted to hospice care with severe brain damage (details classified: cause of injury due to unintended psychokinetic burst via subject David Carpenter, ruled self-defense).

David was officially emancipated at sixteen (details classified: insufficient care on behalf of subject Mark Carpenter, insufficient relationship with family, sufficient case on behalf of subject David Carpenter re: legal and mental cognizance), with a generalized education degree at seventeen, working various jobs and boarding with Commander John Charleston before joining the Starfleet Marine Corps Enlisted Academy on Mars to complete basic combat training and operational training in the occupational specialty of intelligence as an encryption analyst & computer specialist.

He passed his psych (though there was one area of note which is his lack of social relationships with others) and medical exam and applied to Starfleet Ranger School to continue his education in intelligence. He was accepted. This involved going in front of a panel of judges. Three out of four voted yes to accelerated admission, despite David's lack of combat experience, after watching what he could do with a computer. He moved to Camp Pennington to complete and pass his Ranger assessment test. Once this was through David was moved to the Ranger Lunar Facility to round off his schooling before returning once more to Mars.

His BCT, RRT & AIT as well as official Starfleet training took approximately a year as an enlisted cadet. Throughout his schooling period the only person he was close to was John Charleston, who acted as his mentor. David was known for impeccable grades, giftedness in computer technology and mathematics, but an asocial manner and average combat scores, before he graduated as a private and was posted to the U.S.S. Vermont under Captain Carlin.

The assignment was covert operations and involved hacking into a highly secure database on an outlying colony near Turee. Most on board eschewed his decision to take a fresh graduate and throw him under the bus, but Carlin didn't feel he had a choice. They had thrown their best hackers at it for days and come up with nothing. After completing that mission, David stayed for a year, earning a promotion to lance corporal.

He was finally requisitioned by the 13th Ranger Unit on Cerberus-station. He was promoted to corporal shortly after and assigned as their computer systems specialist.
